Rob Pattinson talks at the Cannes Film Festival

Rob Pattinson is at the Cannes Film Festival for a few days before traveling on to Italy where the final days of shooting 'New Moon' will occur. He said some pretty interesting things!

Rob revealed that he has definitely been signed on to play Edward in the film version of Breaking Dawn! Having his star power linked to the project seems to guarantee that a fourth film will be made, and will hopefully attract other cast members to return.

Rob also talked a little about New Moon. Skeptics have pointed out that Edward appears very little in the book version, but to appeal to the legions of RPattz fans, rumors have circulated that the film will include more Edward in the plot. (And let's face it--who doesn't want to see more Rob Pattinson? He's simply adorable!)
According to the Hollywood Reporter:
The script adaptation for "New Moon" beefs up his character's role considerably -- in the book, Edward is a "a voice in Bella's head," he said.
Said Pattinson, laughing: "You're playing a figment in Bella's imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn't translate onscreen as being boring." The hardworking actor is taking a few days off after completing "New Moon" before the start of the "Remember Me" shoot. He plans three days off after an eight-week planned shoot for "Remember Me" before finishing "Eclipse" before October.

personally i think they should make the movie exactly like the book and not use edward as much. the book was meant to be like that for a reason. and for the record i do not want to see any more edward, i want to see JACOB because he is better!!!!!

I kind of like the idea of actually showing Edward in the hallucinations and I kind of don't like it. I think it would be alright if they showed Edward when Bella hears his voice, but only if she couldn't see him. That way the RPattz fans get more of Rob, the fact that Bella can only hear his voice but can't see him satisfies the book fans, and the visual effect of him with her helps people who are just curious about the movie get a better understanding of what's going on. Everybody's happy lol.

BUT...they already said Bella will be able to see Edward in her hallucinations so my plan's out lol.

BY THE WAY...there is NO possible way that Jacob is in ANY way better than Edward. I'm sorry, it's just the way it is. :P

Am I the only one who thought that Edward really WAS haunting (stalking?) Bella in New Moon?
Until you knew that it was her grief and sadness causing her to "hear" Edward in her head, I mean?
When I read the book, I kept wondering if Edward really was there, watching her. The guy's a mind-reading vampire! Who knows what else he can do? It seemed plausible that he might be able to transmit his thoughts to her when he felt really strongly that she was doing something dangerous.
I thought that part of the fun of the book was wondering the cause of the mystery-Edward voice was, and waiting to find out. In fact, I think it was a pretty brillant plot device.
Maybe it will be presented that way--like you're not really sure if he is there, or if it's her imagination? I'm willing to watch to find out!
